About Auckland Pride

Auckland Pride is Tāmaki Makaurau's Pride Festival, connecting and celebrating Takatāpui and Rainbow Communities every February!

We produce Tāmaki Makaurau’s annual Festival of events for rainbow communities, expanded to an incredibly diverse and vibrant Pride Month for the first time in 2021, and in 2022 delivered Te Tīmatanga through a phenomenal public art and digital activation celebrating Takatāpuitanga.

Auckland Pride’s mission is to produce an inclusive festival that reflects the diversity of Tāmaki Makaurau’s queer communities, connecting and celebrating past, present, and future.

The Auckland Pride Festival is an open-access arts, cultural, and community Festival. It’s comprised of major events delivered by Auckland Pride, such as the groundbreaking Te Tīmatanga,  phenomenal Pride Gala, powerful Pride March, and the sensational Pride Party, and a diverse variety of events produced by artists, community organisers, and organisations.

Auckland Pride also delivers exciting initiatives and platforms for our community year-round, including an upcoming artist in residency program, our platform for year-round events The Queer Agenda, along with other campaigns and events. Auckland Pride is committed to ensuring that our communities have spaces year round to share their stories, celebrate who they are, and fight for progress.

Auckland Pride is a membership driven, democratic organisation that is lead by its board and advised by its Māori Advisory Rōpū. Auckland Pride hold regular community hui with its membership to ensure its direction is guided by Tāmaki Makaurau’s rainbow communities. We’re proud of our deep relationship with our community as they guide the direction of Auckland Pride.

The 2022 Auckland Pride Festival's in-person events were cancelled in 2022 due to COVID-19. Over 180 events were scheduled to take place under the theme ' Ki Te Whai-Ao' honouring the 50th anniversary of Pride in Aotearoa. Te Tīmatanga was our Major Event that took place, through Public Art across central Tāmaki Makaurau, and a digital activation which included performances, podcasts, and a for-sale gallery of Takatāpui art.
