Artist bio
Hāmiora (Samuel) Bailey (Ngāti Porou Ki Harataunga, Ngāti Huarere) E Nekeneke Ki Tou Ake Ao
Hāmiora is known for their social and political practice. Sam’s process focuses on actualising whanaungatanga (collective consciousness) by making as a whānau. Drawing on a practice centred around people, their work aims to cement notions of tika (truth) and pono (honesty) in physical space; using art and design to broaden the ways in which their hapori can access and respond to modernity.
